Reading in Good Company: Bay Area book group leads Cactus Eaters discussion

Thank you to the newly launched Bay Area book group Reading in Good Company, which has chosen The Cactus Eaters as its inaugural choice and invited me to participate. I will be there for the discussion, which will take place at 1 p.m. on February 12 at the Atherton Public Library in Atherton, Ca. Forgot to mention that this is a casual pot luck so bring a dish.

This Mothra photo is from the Toho archives.

godzilla looks scared and small

As for the smallness, I would have to check on that. It could be that Mothra is closer to the camera than Godzilla so it's a matter of perspective.

That is so not fair. I have volunteer training at The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito at exactly that time. Can you make a quick stop by the training? Or come back to the bay area soon?

Thanks :-)

PS I've now coerced two members of my family into reading your book, and they both loved it. Number three is coming soon.

Thanks for the kind words about the book -- I am sorry about the scheduling conflict, but I would love to take a tour of the Marine Mammal Center some time. (Funny coincidence-- I grew up with Marineland of the Pacific, where I worked as a short-order cook at the Burger Galley until they fired me for gross incompetence. These days, I'm a regular at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.) I will be back in the Bay Area for another event in the coming months; I'll put the notice up here as soon as i know for sure

My good friend is hosting the event tomorrow! I really wanted to be there, but it conflicts with my work schedule. Regardless, I am reading your book now and just love it! It has inspired me to join the "Paddle to the Sea" fundraiser in May!

thanks, Jamie! You're the second person who wrote in about a schedule conflict -- sorry about that -- thinking I should post a report here about the meeting for folks who can't be there. someone down here in Santa Cruz was just talking to me about the paddle relay; sounds like a great event.
