Forty-dollar Jonathan Franzen tickets????

You won't believe this. A woman from Ben Lomond is trying to scalp the $10 tickets to tonight's sold-out Bookshop Santa Cruz event for $40 a piece. Can you believe that? In Santa Cruz, of all places? Great author and public speaker, and it's always nice to see that much interest in a literary event. But do scalpers have to wreck everything?

I had the same reaction when I saw this on Craigslist. I actually signed on to Craigslist to sell one of my $8 tickets.... for $8. The scalper should be ashamed.

I know. Lately that kind of thing has been happening more and more. I was up in SF and someone was selling tickets to a sold out "free day" event at one of the museums. When people act like that, it reminds me of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (minus the redemption at the end, of course.).

Would you be available to discuss your book at an (area) book club? mkdove

To Anon -- sorry, I'm just seeing this post
and pressing the publish button after not looking at this for a while. Could you shoot me an email? (listed on the profile.) That way we can figure this out.

Also, is this the same person who sent a similar query, listed below on the Zajac artticle?

OK, Mkdove book-clubber. Identify thyself! Going once, going twice...
